Storm Season 2020

Storm teams across the US from SERVPRO have come together to help Southern states after months of damage created from hurricanes and tropical storms. SERVPRO of Mankato/Owatonna has spent the last month helping these communities begin to recover after the devastating effects of these storms. Water removal, drying, mold remediation and clean up of materials have been the daily routine for our team. It is an honor to be a part of such a renowned national team who is trusted to help families and businesses begin the process of cleanup and saving what was left in the storms' path.
The 2020 Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. So far, there have been a total of 26 tropical or subtropical cyclones, 25 named storms, 9 hurricanes, and 3 major hurricanes. With 25 named storms, it is the second most active Atlantic hurricane season on record, behind the 2005 season. The devastation has amounted in 144 deaths and $24.225 Billion in estimated damages. SERVPRO has been there from the beginning to try and pick up the pieces, and be a part of the resolution.
Our location has been able to help numerous homes and businesses every day. With more storms to come, the SERVPRO teams are dedicated to helping until the storms have passed. With our over 1,700 locations, we are Faster to any size disaster. 2020 has been a tumultuous year for many families and businesses and the storm season has made it even more devastating. However, the folks in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where we have centered our help, have been kind, warm, welcoming and so appreciative of our team. Amidst disaster, this community is coming together to triumph after trauma.

Donations for the Committee Against Domestic Abuse
SERVPRO of Mankato/Owatonna is dedicated to helping those in our community who need it the most. In July 2020, SERVPRO of Mankato/Owatonna fundraised to bring necessities to the Committee Against Domestic Abuse (CADA). In 2019 CADA in Mankato helped to service 2,249 individuals.
CADA's mission is to "provide safety and support to victims of domestic and sexual violence through education, advocacy, and shelter. CADA is a nonprofit victim advocacy and emergency shelter organization based in Mankato, Minnesota. CADA serves an eight county region including, Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, Le Sueur, Nicollet, Sibley, Waseca, and Watonwan Counties. We are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to provide free and confidential services to all victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence."
We were able to donate the following items: paper towels, disinfecting spray, disinfecting wipes, nitrile gloves, and homemade masks. We were also able to raise money donated directly to CADA through our Facebook page, totaling $70.
SERVPRO of Mankato/Owatonna is known for being “faster to any size disaster,” but we are also known for our willingness to jump on board and help a worthy cause in our community. We are also currently donating bags that contain items to help families after a fire loss to our local Fire Departments and donations to local schools with fire safety information. We are always looking for an opportunity to support a cause or individuals who can use our help. Please reach out to SERVPRO of Mankato/Owatonna if you or your organization is looking for volunteer or donation opportunities at 507-200-3700.
